I was skeptical about a "hybrid" short, but I traveled with these for 3 months over the summer, and they performed better than expected. I did not swim in them, but wish I had tested them out. I love how light the shorts are - easy to wash and dry, and pack as they don't wrinkle either. Great "travel" shorts - lots of pockets and zippers. Normal seems to have upgraded this model (its called blue fog now), but this one comes with a draw string. There is no lining inside. Breathable, with some stretch. Will def look at the new model for another one of these in a different color.
