I basically drink bourbon year round, but during the fall, it feels the most appropriate. I do not have fancy taste, and even though I love the look and idea of a well-made Manhattan, for me – it’s Basil Hayden on the rocks in a short glass. I can sip on them throughout the night, and the worst thing that can happen is I’ll fall asleep. All about downside protection.
Saturdays are for Sandwiches
I have really looked forward to Saturdays with my dad and
kids. We usually have my daughter’s soccer game and then we go out and get the ingredients for “Poppa’s Italian Sub Special”. Getting the ingredients is where a lot of the fun is. We get in one car and first go to DiGregorio’s, an awesome Italian market on the Hill (Italian neighborhood in St. Louis). We get the meats, cheese, olives, and sweet peppers. The kids get some treats. Then we head to Olive Ovation (a specialty market by our first TNB store) and get my favorite bread in the world (from Union Loafer’s) – a seeded hoagie – and we also pick up a few sourdough loaves. Then we go home and my dad puts the whole thing together. Then I fall asleep watching college football. It’s basically perfect.
Favorite Jacket this Season
I have really looked forward to Saturdays with my dad and I love our Canvas Zip Front Jacket. Keeps you warm during the cold months and keeps its form. I like grabbing something in my closet that has some toughness to it, and this definitely does. Our canvas shell is 100% cotton with some character. We put in a quilted lining for added warmth. My favorite things about this jacket are the subtle details – elbow patch seaming and back body pleats.
Come by for Christmas
I’ve been watching a bunch of Christmas movies lately, and it’s tough to beat Home Alone. Specifically in the second one, the toy store is just so cool and makes every kid want to be there. We shoot for an equally welcome experience in our store during Christmas. During the Black Friday Cyber Monday weekends we will have events, drinks, food, and music at all 11 of our stores. Important Traditions
Every fall right before deer season opens in Missouri, our Uncle Doug invites us all out to his farm for "Tradition Week." It's our cousins, uncles, and brothers. It's an incredible few days of great food, drinks, and hanging out. This year he got everyone a Brightside Jacket with his farm logo embroidered on it. Uncle D is not only our best customer of all time, but also an incredible host.
